Business at Law: Friday, January 11, 2008 - CHARLOTTE, North Carolina - Bank of America said Friday it will buy Countrywide Financial for $4.1 billion in stock. The deal will rescue the Countrywide, country's biggest mortgage lender, from its troubles, and further expands the financial services of Bank of America, the nation's largest consumer bank. The acquisition will make Charlotte-based Bank of America Corp. the nation's biggest mortgage lender and loan servicer.
